No Will Jacks! Ambati Rayudu Picks Mumbai Indians' Probable Playing XI For IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians will open its campaign in the IPL 2025 on Sunday (March 23) against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Former India and Mumbai Indians star Ambati Rayudu has picked Mumbai Indians’ probable playing XI for IPL 2025. According to the three-time IPL champion with the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma will open the innings with Ryan Rickelton. Rickelton is a South African wicketkeeper-batter, and he was signed for Rs 1 crore by the Mumbai-based franchise in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year.
For the No. 3 and 4 positions, Rayudu has mentioned Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav’s names. Captain Hardik Pandya will bat at No. 5, followed by Naman Dhir at 6 and New Zealand’s white-ball captain Mitchell Santner at No. 7.

“I guess Ryan Rickelton will open with Rohit Sharma, as he can keep the wickets as well. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav will bat at three and four depending upon the left-right combination. Hardik Pandya will be at No. 5, while Naman Dhir will be at No. 6," Rayudu said in a video shared by Star Sports on X.
According to the joint-most successful player in IPL history, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar will be three fast bowling options for Mumbai Indians, and the remaining spot will go to a young Indian player depending upon the conditions.
“Mitchell Santner (at No. 7), then (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Trent) Boult and Deepak Chahar. The remaining place will go to a young Indian player as the impact player depending upon the conditions," he added.
Karn Sharma, Will Jacks, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Reece Topley, Corbin Bosch, Bevon Jacobs, Robin Minz, Arjun Tendulkar and Raj Bawa are other top players who will feature for MI in IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians will open its campaign in the IPL 2025 on Sunday (March 23) against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium and then take on Gujarat Titans in the second league stage match on March 29.
MI will miss the services of captain Hardik Pandya for the first match against CSK due to a one-match ban, and star pacer Bumrah is also expected to miss the initial few matches due to lower back injury-related issues.
